We empower girls and women to lead locally.
EmpowHERment, Inc. is a Charlotte, NC based not for profit organization. We are committed to empowering girls and women to be leaders through mentorship, talent development and advocacy. Our programs connect girls in grades 6-12 with women in their local communities. Our EmpowHERment model provides a reciprocal growth opportunity where both our girls and women strengthen their talents, voice and network as authentic, affirmed leaders.
Mentors commit to helping their mentee build a talent development portfolio and advocacy platform through a 12-month EmpowHERment curriculum that is supported by our monthly community partnership events.
Our monthly community partnership events allow our mentees and mentors to bond with other women and girls through new shared learning experiences, connections to networks, and exposure to community resources & issues. EmpowHERment isn’t just about mentee development; we provide a reciprocal growth opportunity where both the mentee and mentor realize their full potential and strengthen their voice, talent and network as leaders.
Incorporated in 2012, EmpowHERment’s roots were established organically through a group of girls and women who sought to learn from and empower one another. A small group of leaders committed to the idea that all women and girls should have the opportunity to connect, learn, lead and own their power. They set out to create a movement that would transform the way girls and women defined, developed and defended themselves as leaders – and the annual empowHERment summit was born.
The first empowHERment summit was held in the summer of 2011 with a couple dozen women and girls of all backgrounds in the Charlotte area. Together, they learned leadership development skills to serve as the building blocks for honoring their power, developing their talents, affirming each other and strengthening our community.
Today, EmpowHERment is a trademarked 501 (c)(3) nonprofit committed to our mission of empowering a continuous network of girls and women to be leaders in their community through mentorship, talent development and advocacy. We lead year-round mentoring and talent development programs, and the annual empowHERment summit still serves as our cornerstone organization event.
